Worldcon (World Science Fiction Convention), is the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). It was first held in New York in 1939, and has been held continuously every year, except from 1942 to 1945 during World War II.
Each year, Worldcon attracts many SF&F authors and artists, along with fans and readers, editors and publishers, critics and researchers. Over the decades, this five day long event has grown to embrace science fiction and fantasy in all the forms, including film, TV, art, comics, manga, anime, animation and games, etc.
The top highlight of Worldcon is the Hugo Awards, especially its ceremony. The fans have voted for the year's best, and after months of suspense, the winners will finally be announced, along with the top-secret design of the Hugo Award rocket trophy.
